Pakistan - Travel Guide

Pakistan - it’s commonly mistaken as a war-torn zone ridden with danger and a lack of safety, but its reality is that it is one of the most beautiful countries in the world where one can experience an authentic taste of exotic Eastern Culture. Pakistan is home to 197 million people and is located in South Asia. The official language is Urdu and 95-98% of its people are Muslim. It is here that tourists can enjoy deliciously spicy foods, admire stunning silky clothing and experience the incredible mountainous views that stretch into the Himalayas.

Lahore is one of the most popular cities in Pakistan, with its population reaching just over 12.1 million. Pakistan became independent in 1947 after its partition with India, however, this was not the beginning of Pakistan’s historical timeline. Lahore is the perfect destination for experiencing some breathtaking Islamic architecture and Pakistani history; the Badshahi Mosque built in 1674, is often acclaimed as one of the most magnificent Mosques in the world and is a must see for tourists. Nearby, is also Lahore Fort; built in 1566 by Emperor Akhbar, this fort is the star attraction of the Old city!

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is one of the 4 states of Pakistan, occupying the northern regions - it is bordered with Afghanistan. Occupied with panoramic mountains, valleys and rivers, it is responsible for just some of Pakistan’s amazing scenic views. The Kaghan Valley extends across 155km. It is here that tourists can journey on a difficult trek or simply enjoy the experience from a walk. In addition to scenery, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is also home to Peshawar, a city known for its food, tourism and its history dating back to 539BC. Mahabat Khan Mosque dates back to the 17th Century Mughal era, and the Bala Hisar Fort was first built in 1526 under the rule of the Afghan Durrani dynasty.

If you are considering travel to Pakistan, the political climate should not be ignored; choose your timing and locations wisely, but don’t let this delay your trip! While Pakistan may not be the typical tourism-central of the world, the culture to be experienced is seriously like no other. In addition to the food, clothing and views, the people of Pakistan are what make the experience especially meaningful; kind, hospitable and genuine are just a few words to describe them.

If you are after a trip like no other, Pakistan is certainly the place to visit.
